We are off grid wilderness living
The OGWL Story
Started in 2015 as a Facebook group, Off Grid Wilderness Living has grown from a small community of hard core off gridders to a thriving community of almost 100k members in 2024.
We have over the years worked hard to offer content from both members and the admin team that show the reality of homesteading and off grid living. The failures that lead to learning and the successes of long term lifers.
We hope that you, our members will find community, knowledge and a way to offer your own experiences on both our page and our groups.

I live in Washington state, but I'm also in the state of confusion.
Jacob lives in a octagonal house built by his father in the highlands of north central Washington State. He's not off-grid, except that he's far enough from civilization that he might not survive if he can't make things work in winter. So he tries to teach himself how to fix and enhance anything he might need to live a comfortable life with his myriad of farm animals. His father left behind lots of aging farm equipment, but hand tools are often his preferred choice. As we all age, we need to get our exercise, somehow, and like most equipment, it often fails. Yet the chores still need done.
