Cherokee Fried-Squash Bread

Another simple, traditional Cherokee bread using summer squash.


  • 1 cup Corn meal
  • 2 diced Summer squash
  • 1 Egg
  • Water
  • ¼ cup Buttermilk
  • Step by Step Directions

    1. Boil squash until soft; leaving ¾ c. water in the pot.

      Combine other ingredients with squash and water; mix together.

      Fry in hot oil, golden brown.
